An oak tree coming into leaf at Garreg Ddu in the Elan Valley.
This morning, I'm back at my favourite location in the Elan Valley but today's recording takes the form of a sound walk, stopping at several locations along the trail. The following list, with timings, should help with identification of the various species heard.
Amidst young oak saplings alongside the lake @0430
00'00 Redstart, Cuckoo, Robin, Common Toad. (Songthrush sings throughout in the distance.)

05'40 Tawny Owl call.
07'30 Blue Tit song & churr.
10'30 Raven alarm (Robin, Coal Tit & Willow Warbler distant)

14'19 Greater Spotted Woodpecker - sharp calls and gentle tapping, while another, possibly its mate, drums in the distance.
15'28 Greater Spotted Woodpecker sputters & flies away!
At the edge of a patch of willow and birch (see photo above). @0540
16'05 Blackcap close by, while a gentle breeze brings in the sound of a nearby stream.

17'47 Grey Squirrel alarm, Willow Warbler, Blue Tit.
18'40 Pied Flycatcher brief call.
19'40 Pied Flycatcher & 2 tone call of a Coal Tit.
21'27 Wren flies in and sings close by, making a lot of sound for a tiny bird!
23'00 Pied Flycatcher close, Blue Tit churring, Cuckoo.
23'40 Chiffchaff brief.
24'00 Blue Tit comes close.
24'20 2 Cuckoos not quite in sync.
25'00 Coal Tit, Willow Warbler, 2 Cuckoos.
In a small paddock close to a rushing stream @0800
25'45 Garden Warbler, Song Thrush.
26'40 Garden Warbler comes closer (about 7m from me!) Wren, Chaffinch & Wood Pigeon in background.
28'00 Chiffchaff joins in.
32'00 A gust of wind silences the warbler briefly, leaving just SongThrush, Chiffchaff & Wood Pigeon.
33'13 Wood Pigeon's wing clap as it flies away, followed by the simple high pitched call of a Tree Creeper.
33'36 Chiffchaff now takes centre stage before the Garden Warbler strikes up again slightly further away...
